Oil Painting without Drawing:
The Art of Tonal Painting
Taught by Dominic Vignola
Offsite: Berwyn Art Studio, 2929 S. Harlem Ave.
in Berwyn

Three time slots available in both the Winter and Spring Sessions
Wednesdays 10:00am-1:00pm
Wednesdays 1:00pm-4:00pm
Wednesdays 6:00pm-9:00pm
Members: $210 / Non-Members: $225
Tonal Impressionist (non drawing) mass approach teaches how to see light and shadow to create realistic work without the use of lines. Accurate proportions come about automatically by correct tone and shape placement. Pictures begin with a hazy, soft block-in using loosely defined areas of light and dark, building up to the final, more focused effect. Color mixing problems are solved by the use of the exclusive Vignola Tonal Chart and Mixing Guide©, allowing students to accurately identify and mix any color combination in the visual spectrum. The tonal method achieves equally excellent results on any subject-portrait, figure, landscape, still-life, etc.- because students stop trying to paint "things" and instead learn to observe and paint the way these things look.
