My images are created from memory, imagination, observation and
enjoyment of life experiences. I am thinking and remembering – but I am
listening and observing. I find inspiration by enjoying everyday
experiences, engaging in social interactions and by reading literature
of all genres. My extensive travels have influenced my art by increasing
my knowledge base, by learning new techniques and by increasing my
visual experiences. When I am creating I am at my most peaceful and at
my highest level of intellectual being. My most successful pieces have
been created intuitively and by enjoying the aura that occurs during the
creative process.
I am an award-winning multi-media artist inspired by colors, lines and
shapes. I work in collage, pastels, photography, pen & ink and
watercolor. I have been known to also use my photography in collages and
as studies. I often love to combine many types of media and frequently
experiment with different techniques.
I have shown my work extensively in solo and group (juried and
non-juried) shows in museums, brick & mortar galleries and some virtual
galleries. I have enjoyed creating commissioned work for private
collections throughout the United States, Mexico and Europe. In June
2005, I earned my Certificate in Drawing Program from the School of the
Art Institute.
I founded Planet Collage (est. 9-2005) and co-founded the Midwest
Collage Society. Most recently, I curate a monthly international
postcard collage exchange (est. 4-2006) and a periodic international
candy tin exchange (est. 3-2007). Additionally, I generously share my
corporate experience by serving on many art-related and non-art-related
boards. Most currently I co-facilitate “Her Group” which is sponsored by
Woman Made Gallery in Chicago, Illinois.
I believe that everyone has artistic potential and I am always
encouraging and mentoring others to find their individual strengths and
passions. Creativity is a part of my everyday life. I love to share in
what I enjoy best!
