Biography
I would describe myself as self-taught artist. I never got a formal art education although I did attend a few workshops and a couple of classes. My art has been shaped by reading numerous art books and being inspired by artist like John Singer Sargent, Renoir and contemporary artist Richard Schimd, David Leffel, Everett Raymond Kinstler and the late Charles Vickery. Each of these artist had their own style and perspective yet they held fast to the high standards set by representational art. In each of my paintings I strive to reach these standards although I know that those artist that inspired me also have set the bar high. However, Just the act of painting has done wonders for my life.

I grew up in Chicago where I spent 25 years of my life as a Steelworker. When that job was eliminated I went back to school where I got my degree in Liberal Arts from DePaul U. At the same time I retrained myself in computer technology. With the help of my nephew Brian, I was able to land a job as a computer programmer. Over the span of ten years I worked as a programmer for two companies and enjoyed my work. However, when my last job was "Outsourced" I decided to retire.

Artist Work
Now I spend most of my time in my studio. Like the artist Hilary Brown said: "Going to my studio is like going on vacation". I also devote my time to the Oak Park Art league where I have been a board member for over 20 years. I mostly paint in oils but have done some artwork in other mediums like pastel, charcoal and watercolor. I enter my artwork in various shows and have numerous awards for my work. I also do commissions work.
