“Artist Members” make up our diverse and active body of talented professional artists at OPAL and to reach this level of membership one must submit work to be reviewed and accepted by the Standards Committee. The Standards Committee juries in members twice a year in Fall and Spring.
Artist Members receive the same benefits as other members as well as invitations to exhibit their work at Prairie Title, our satellite gallery, and to exhibit in small group or solo shows in the main gallery. Their work and bio is displayed for the public in the gallery and on our website as a benefit of membership. To learn more about the Standards Committee and how to submit work for review please contact the gallery.  $50/year

Dillman’s Art Workshop Retreat of Lac du Flambeau, WI (350 miles from downtown Chicago) will partner with Illinois Watercolor Society, for the first time, to bring free art demonstrations to artists and friends in the Chicago area to the Oak Park Art League. Invite your friends to join you.

For 35 years Dillman’s Art Workshop Retreat has organized complimentary Mid Winter Festivals of Artists across the country to offer potential students the opportunity to meet instructors who teach in oil, watercolor, pastel, music, writing, music and quilting workshops in northern Wisconsin. There will be hour-long demonstrations by well-known artists in their chosen medium; art work sales of original and reproductions plus artist’s books and videos by internationally known artists; information on resources for artists, refreshments, art supplies and hourly door prizes.

That’s why the Oak Park Art League is hosting a special exhibit of work celebrating Mother Earth. This is an Open Call For Entries!  Show Duration, February 10 – March 2, 2012

The Opening Reception Friday, Feb. 10 from  7-9pm was well attended. Over 80 pieces were submitted and are on display in the gallery. The evening featured live music performance by Jimbo Delta and an orchid painting demonstration by Artist Member and Internationally known botanical illustrator Kathleen Garness.

 

 

 

 

It was a close vote in our People’s Choice Award but Bryan Northup won for
his Multi Media Assemblage “Elemental”

Simply, this means that all current memberships will be assigned a new renewal date at the beginning of the next calendar quarter following their actual anniversary date.

The quarter dates are January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1.

For example if your current membership expiration is February 1, you will renew by April 1. While all new memberships are effective immediately, new members will automatically be give an expiration date based on the quarter system.

It’s a win-win deal! Some members may get an extra month or two of free membership while the OPAL staff will only have to process renewals four times a year rather that every month.

The Oak Park Art League celebrated the start of its 2012 exhibition schedule with ANYTHING GOES! an exhibit to kick off the New Year with OPAL member artworks of any medium, size or subject matter. The response from the membership and those in the community was beyond expectations. Over 90 pieces of art were entered into the show by more than 30 artists. In fact the league gained several members so they could exhibit their work.
The Opening Reception was Friday, Jan. 13, 7-9 pm and was standing room only as art admirers enjoyed live music performed by guitarist/ singer, Mike Loss, delicious refreshments and of course an exciting array of art by OPAL members! Attendees also voted for their favorite piece in the ever popular People’s Choice award and the winner was Carry Overstreet for his acrylic on canvas painting entitled “Cranes”, which sold later in the evening.

The walls will be filled and the OPAL gallery open for the public to view this exciting art display, Jan. 13 – Feb. 3, 2012 during regular gallery hours, Monday through Friday, 1-5pm and Saturday 1-4pm
