Kids Camp

Discovering Your Unique World View

June 9th  - June 20th

Ages 5-8

Taught by Sharron Ott
Mondays-Friday 9:00am-12:00pm
Members: $250 / Non-Members: $265

This camp will find fun ways to learn the fundamentals of Fine Art. Games and projects will be explored in each session. Students may move at their own pace if they have a complex piece of art that they would like to create. Various mediums will be used, such as paint, charcoal, clay, paper mache, etc…
 

Explorations in Book
and Paper Arts

June 23rd  - July 4th

Ages 5-8

Monday-Friday 9:00am-12:00pm
Members: $250/ Non-Members: $265

This camp for 5-8 year olds will explore the wonderful world of book and paper. From altered books and artist trading cards (ATC), to booking and papermaking to sculpture, students will learn various techniques on how to make, manipulate and create artwork using paper. This camp will also participate in the Fourth of July celebration by working towards putting together a presentation. Students and parents may walk in the parade!

Eco Art

July 21st - Aug 1st 

Ages 5-8

Monday-Friday 9:00am-12:00pm

This class will be a very hands on exploration of organic, recycled, re-usable, natural, and non-toxic materials. Young artist will seek out materials from mother earth and any other found objects to create organic inspired art. Such as; twig and leave frames, wind chimes, pressed flower paper and cards. Artists will also have the unique opportunity to develop their own natural hand soap, bath salts, lotions and oils.
 

Eco Art

Aug 4th - 15th

Chinese Culture

Aug 4th - 15th

Ages 5-8

This class will immerse you into Chinese culture. You will explore Chinese culture through games, Chinese jump rope, language, calligraphy, Chinese brush painting, art, paperfolding, food, dance, music, and tai chi just to name a few

Jewelry Making  

july 7th -18

Ages 9-12
Taught by Quincy Hughes
Monday-Friday 9:00am-12:00pm
Members: $250 / Non-Members: $265

We will learn a variety of jewelry-making techniques and will create numerous pieces of jewelry, including necklaces using knotting between beads, three-strand necklaces, memory wire rings, bracelets, and necklaces, barrettes, and many types of earrings, including dangly, chandelier-type earrings. We will make 15-20 pieces of jewelry.

Learn to see differently and understand the feeling of space and depth. Learn devices to show how we use “art” each and every day. Students will be working with traditional formats and challenges to think “outside” the box with new ideas. Some decorative and others functional. Become familiar with modern and classic artists. Also, we will be exploring the neighborhood as well. Must bring a sketchbook and “idea folder” to class.


Graffiti Arts

June 23rd - July 4th

Ages 9-12

This class will explore the ideas and practice of creating graffiti that can be something unique and positive in the community. Learn how to create expressive, challenging, changing works of art in the public space. We will work be working to create a mural for the Oak Park Art League and community. This class will also work towards developing a presentation for the Oak Park 4th of July Parade. Students and parents may walk in the parade!


Private Piano
Instruction

Ages 5 and up
Taught by Kathryn Atwood
Saturdays 10:00am-12:00pm
(1/2 hour lessons, select preferred time slot)
Members: $22 Per lesson / Non-Members: $25 per lesson

Private piano lessons for beginners utilizing the Traditional method of piano instruction. Traditional piano, which should be taken around the same time the child is learning to read words, is the method by which notes are read on the musical staff. Ms. Atwood utilizes the Faber method books when teaching and incorporates ear training, memorization
 

Art and Autism
Taught by Janne Laurencelle
Saturday Mornings (various time slots available)
$30 for an hour long lesson

One on one guided explorations into a variety of art making methods and materials. Class content will be organized individually, with careful consideration given to each student’s goals. Drawing from art history, literature, and the everyday, students will be given the opportunity to explore and use different media to create in two and three dimensional forms.
